A New Family Member

Here's fun news! It sounds like we will be receiving our new Japanese exchange student in the next few days. I hope all goes well and Kenshin is able to transfer from his previous placement.

The school system he was supposed to join was full. So we received a call from our kid's school asking if we could host an emergency placement.

After a family meeting, we all agreed. So we think he'll be joining us this week and for the rest of the school year. Since he likes basketball and singing, it should be a really good mix with us. Our youngest is sooo Mr. Basketball! Then the boys will also be able to go on the choir tour in the spring. This gives our exchange student the opportunity to see more of the country.

Anyway, between the busy week and family emergencies (Mariah is doing great after having to spend an overnight in a Thai hospital for a medicine reaction) we are now preparing our home for another change. I think our last name should be Change or Chance or something, lol.

Have you ever hosted an exchange student? If so, what advice do you have?

Thanks:-D
Angie
PS I'll be posting some photos of Montana in the fall in the next few days. It is GORGEOUS here even though a bit chilly.

Ang,
We hosted an exchange student from Chile last year. He was eighteen, and a lot of fun. He got along really well with my kids and seemed to enjoy doing things with us. Show a lot of interest in their home country and family, they will love to tell you all about it! Also, make sure all the house rules are clear from day one. We had a few issues with that. But in the end he even started coming to church with us and I think enjoyed it. If the language is a problem, make sure he knows what you mean, never assume! :0)
Enjoy the time!
