A Courageous Beauty Interview: Mrs. Philippines International 2009-Maria

Angie: I had the honor of meeting Maria, Mrs. Philippines International 2009 because we were roomies at the Mrs. International pageant. When I opened the door, these two ladies were already there enjoying a great conversation. They embraced me as a friend :-) (The other pretty lady is Mrs. New Mexico International 2009.)

Angie: Maria, how did you learn about competing in pageants?

Maria: I learned about the pageant from my local director, Phil Frazer.

Angie: Tell us about your platform please.

Maria:  My platform deals with My First Home. I built it around my passion which is Real Estate and helping first time home buyers accomplish their dream of  first time homeownership.

Angie: Why did you decide to compete?

Maria: For national pageant experience and to represent my country (Philippines).

Angie: Have you competed before?

Maria:  My first competition was many years ago and I was excited.  I had lots of fun.

Angie: What did you have to learn in order to compete?

Maria: I had to learn to walk with confidence and grace.  I had to learn to answer interview questions well.

Angie: What have you been able to accomplish?

Maria:  I was able to establish my own foundation in my mother's memory.

Angie: What's a goal for you?

Maria: A goal to be able to help the needy by utilizing my talents and skills in my daily living.

Angie: What does that mean?

Maria: I wanted to build schools to educate the poor children, hospitals for the sick and charitable institutions to benefit  the orphans all over the world.

Angie: Do you feel like all pageants are surface oriented and skin deep?

Maria: There are hundreds of pageants and there are some pageants that are not just skin deep.  There are pageants that encourage community involvement and even motivate pageant participants to make a difference in this world.

Angie: What kind of an education do you have?

Maria:  I have a doctorate degree, a master's degree, a bachelor's degree and an associate degree and lots of certifications and diplomas.  The most important is I apply what I learn for the good of my fellow men and to make an impact in my life here on earth.

Angie: Aren't you a business owner too?

Maria: I own Maria Shircel Property Management, LLC, also work as a REALTOR, Mortgage Coach, Counselor and Fitness Trainer.

Angie: Do you pursue other creative talents?

Maria: Yes, photography and oil painting.

Angie: What are your goals after your title ends?

Maria:  Continue to further my platform everyday and market it effectively.

Angie: What beauty tips would you share that help you feel beautiful and confident?

Maria: I always iron my clothes,  always put day moisturizer on my face, and at night I use vaseline for my skin. I eat fresh fruits and vegetables and practice consistent running, lifting weights, walking, and a full day rest on Sunday.

Angie: Will you continue to compete?

Maria:  I will check on Mrs. Globe and Mrs. Galaxy pageants.

Angie: What's the compliment you receive most often?

Maria: The most beautiful smile and the whitest teeth.

Angie: What are you most confident about?

Maria:  My people's skills, my marketing skills, and my communication skills.

Angie: How did you earn that sense of confidence?

Maria: By training and daily practice.

Angie: What would you like to share with our readers?

Maria: I would like to share my motto, "Your attitude will determine your atltitude." Thank you and please keep in touch,
